Saturday night we had Society inductions. I decided to join the Nu Delta Chi Vikings who had a very creative initiation procedure. All of us new recruits were taken to the society meeting room which had no windows and the lights were turned off. We all had to drink this viking gruel that apparently tasted pretty bad. The room was dark though so I somehow got skipped in the drink distribution. Next we were all pushed into a maze whose side walls were made from tables propped on their sides and top was made of cardboard. Upon completing the maze we were blindfolded and marched one by one up a ladder. They then pushed us backwards off of what we later saw to be a stage and into the arms of our new society friends. After the induction we had a brief devotional and a pizza party. They ordered way too much pizza, which was fine with us and we took the rest back to our dorm rooms. I'm really having a lot of fun here at college. Most of the classes aren't too bad. The math teacher said that we can work together on homework so that is going a whole lot faster now that we have a study group going. We got our homework done in about an hour and a half after the last class. Today I also had my first computer lab class. Unfortunately we have to use the Vista computers for the lab classes, but he said that outside of class I can use whatever I want :) Well, off to go study for now. Well, I had my first day of classes yesterday. I should be ok in English and stuff and the Computer Science classes are obviously going to be fun. This semester's course is on C# programming. The hardest class I have will be Transcendental Functions (math). That one is going to be a doozy. It took me about 4 or 5 hours to do the homework for that class. Looks like it's going to be a full semester but I think I'll enjoy it. This week we also get to choose which Society we join (similar to a Fraternity or Sorority) so that's a ton of fun getting to meet people and eat all the free food and stuff. We're in the middle of a torrential downpour right now so I better finish this in case the power dies. I'll try to write a tech entry tonight. Unfortunately I do not have SFTP access to my server while on campus so no new radio music unless I get some time at a relative's house, which might be every couple of weeks. Sorry. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Print |

Well, I am now officially here to stay. My parents left at around 3:00 yesterday for Erie. My room is awesome! We have only 3 people instead of the four we expected. One is our Prayer Captain and the other is a freshman like me. It also turns out that the PC (Prayer Captain) goes to the same church as I was planning on going to so I have a ride now whenever his car has a spot open. A group of us went to a seafood restaurant last night after church and had a blast. I seem to have acquire the nickname "techie" :) This morning me and my roommate went to breakfast shortly after 7. We basically had the place to ourselves. I also confirmed that 1) I am allowed to ride my scooter on campus, and 2) You DO get demerits for getting hit by a car since they have the right of way :) This morning I am off to see my academic advisor and go to yet another new studens meeting. Then I'll work on a programming project of mine. I plan to write a program that will generate a random but matching outfit for me and have it operational by the first day of classes (Wednesday). I'll keep you all posted. Have fun :) Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Print |
