At last, the greatly anticipated Beta 3 of VirtualBox for OS X is here! I have been a fan of VirtualBox on Linux for quite some time, but I was rather disappointed when Beta 2 refused to run on my new MacBook because of compatibility issues with Leopard. The new version is a tremendous improvement though. I haven't done extensive testing yet by any means, but so far everything seems to be working, including sound and networking. I bring great news to all of you who have servers hosted by me. I now have a *ahem* functional web administration interface for Armagetron server administration. At this point you will be able to edit your config files and not much else, but I'm working on capability to reset the server and things like that. If I haven't set you up with an account already, e-mail me and I'll have your web admin login ready asap. I just added a download bar with some useful links. Some of the stuff I put there will be related to Armagetron, other stuff (like cdparanoia) will be useful files that took me a while to find that I feel need to be mirrored. For those of you who remember my Armagetron training manual project, I am in the process of rewriting and updating it a bit and I'll have a new version up within a week or so. Yahoo! I am now officially on break until January 8th! Life is good... except for that History of Civilization correspondence course I'm working on... Anyways, I get to go back to teaching skiing on Saturday which will be a blast! I also get some time to work on my fun projects. Flynn's Arcade will be getting a few improvements including a download bar and template fix (so that it centers properly with all resolutions). I'll also work on some GStreamer plugins for the autonomous robot project. The main one I'm working on now is object detection which should be fun. One of these days I also need to get working on a PHP interface for managing web, mail, and database hosting. I want to start doing some paid web hosting soon but I need an easy interface for my clients to use to setup and manage their accounts.
Today I had some more fun with Ubuntu on my MacBook. I now have operational sound! The only things left to fix are sleeping and the trackpad.
